The so called “Beauty Standards”

Beauty standards are the societal traditions and ideas about physical appearance, they are the set of rules or instructions that makes a person beautiful or handsome according to the society.

If we talk about the present generation there are a-lot of new terms and ideas related to beauty standards which has 2 sides attached to it :

  • one is the positive side where people are contended to live their life as it is, where people are happy in their own skin and have a very dynamic thinking for example our indian actresses and influencers such as Sonakshi sinha, Prableen kaur.

  • Secondly there is a negative side where

people have insecurities, there's a lot of comparisons and a rat race to fit in the beauty standards for example dolly singh, Ananya pandey.

My title is so called "beauty standards" which have the same thought process as it was years ago people are compared on basis of their skin colour, height, their body size which has a very negative impact on some leading to depression, anxiety, low self esteem.

Have u ever wondered that when we refer to someone or for example u are telling your surroundings about someone you met and start with “oh, she is fat where glasses and has a fair complexion”.Then, why do you think that fat is the negative term attached to the person and fair is the positive one.

The answer for this is these words fair, dark , tall , short , fat, slim are just adjectives used and we people add a negative connotation to it.

In conclusion, i would like to add that these are just words with no weightage to it, it has nothing to do with your own self you need to understand your own worth and not let others perspective harm your inner-self.

Everyone is beautiful the way they are and Beauty is about being comtortable in your own skin. It's about knowing and accepting who you are but accepting who you are doesn't mean that you wouldn't take care of your body and be unhealthy and unfit, It means to accept those insecurities, the things you can change and the things you cannot and work towards a brighter future for yourself

Lastly "Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself!"
